During this course, you will learn the 10 behaviors required for your dog to pass The American Kennel Club's Canine Good Citizen Test. Your instructor is an AKC Evaluator and will administer the test on the final week of this class. If your pup passes, you will have the opportunity to send the evaluation to AKC to officially add CGC at the end of your dog's name!
This is a great first class to learn dog training, behavior, and get a foot in the door to all of the opportunities available to you as a dog owner. You will learn how to form a bond with your dog based in mutual trust and respect and how to effectively communicate with them and teach them anything you want!
We encourage everyone in the home to attend all 6 classes so that you all learn the communications skills necessary to train your dog.

It takes a village to raise a puppy! This course will not only give you information and resources for training and socializing your new family member, but also a community of other humans who can support you as you and your family navigate the world of puppyhood. Come learn about how to safely socialize your puppy, get help with common puppy challenges, and build a training foundation that you can grow from for your pup's entire life. Each class is taught by a certified trainer and meets 1 hour per week at Windell Portraits.

Here's how it will work:
Class will meet at different locations around the community each session. Students will work in and out of their cars, gradually moving further away from the vehicle as their dog progresses, always using the car as a home base. Your teacher will rotate through each dog+human team, giving personalized instruction and real-time feedback. Each team will get 3–4 turns with breaks in between. Dogs will also have opportunities to be out of their cars at the same time when appropriate (once both dogs and humans are ready).
Who is this class for?
The word "reactive" can be loaded for some folks. I'm using it as an umbrella term to describe any dog that gets distracted or overly excited to the point of being unable to listen to their human. This class is just as beneficial for a dog with a bite history as it is for a 6-month-old puppy who loves making friends.
